Senior Vice President - Utility Operations, Washington Gas
Douglas Staebler is the Senior Vice President of Utility Operations for Washington Gas. His responsibilities include leadership of the company's Field Operations; Consumer Services; Construction; Compliance & Safety and Gas Supply & Engineering departments.
He was elected a company officer in 2006.
Mr. Staebler is a 24-year veteran of gas utilities and brings an extensive background in engineering, operations, construction and maintenance. Prior to joining Washington Gas as division head for corporate engineering, he directed underground utilities operations for Henkles & McCoy in New Jersey. From 1984 to 2005, Mr. Staebler held positions of increasing responsibility ranging from the entry position of distribution engineer to vice president of operations with NUI – Elizabethtown Gas in New Jersey. From 1982 to 1984, he was employed as a distribution engineer for UGI Corporation in Pennsylvania.
Mr. Staebler sits on the American Gas Association's Operating Section Managing Committee and is an active member of key industry and trade associations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Society of Gas Operators.
Mr. Staebler holds a Master of Business Administration from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Villanova University.
He and his wife live in Fairfax County, Va. They have three children.
