Vice President - Gas Supply and Engineering, Washington Gas
Mark Lowe is Vice President of Gas Supply and Engineering, including Energy Acquisition, Gas Supply Operations, Corporate Engineering, Environment and Safety. The Energy Acquisition group is responsible for forecasting utility gas requirements acquiring and delivering the natural gas to the distribution system reliably and cost effectively. Energy Acquisition forecasts gas demand for the next day and up to 15 years forward. Energy Acquisition is also responsible for managing all transportation, storage and peaking capacity contracts, invoice processing and the Company’s delivery service program and also supports the Corporate Asset Optimization program. Gas Supply Operations oversees the operation, inspection and maintenance of more than 30 gate stations, 1500 pressure regulating facilities, two propane/air peak shaving facilities, an underground natural gas storage facility and the Company’s privately owned radio and microwave system. Gas Supply Operations includes our SCADA group and the design, operation and maintenance of our distribution system monitoring and control system. Gas Supply Operations also includes our 24/7 Gas Control Center. Corporate Engineering is tasked with the design of our gas transmission and distribution system, maintenance and inspection of the transmission system, design and construction of Gas Supply Operations facilities. Safety and Environment are responsible for maintaining Company programs for employee safety and compliance.
Prior to joining Washington Gas in 2000, Mark had ten years of experience in natural gas and hazardous liquids pipeline transmission operations, safety and compliance. Mark has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Geological Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, a Masters of Business Administration from Pepperdine University and is a Registered Professional Civil Engineer.
