Washington Gas Wins Second 2020 ENERGY STAR® Award

for Excellence in Promotion

Natural gas energy provider was also awarded for Promotion excellence in 2018

WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 31, 2020) – Washington Gas today announced it has earned its second 2020 ENERGY STAR® Award for Excellence in the category of ENERGY STAR Promotion. Washington Gas was among other industry award recipients honored for outstanding achievement by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE).

Since 2015, Washington Gas has been an ENERGY STAR partner, and the company won the ENERGY STAR Award for Excellence in Promotion in 2018. This year, Washington Gas is recognized for the second time as an industry leader in energy efficiency with strong results raising the visibility of the ENERGY STAR program and increasing participation. Washington Gas has expanded promotions of ENERGY STAR-certified products and homes which helped bring the value of energy efficiency to a larger audience.

The selection of Washington Gas is based on its success driving effective ENERGY STAR promotions and other consumer outreach initiatives. These include playing a role in ENERGY STAR natural gas home heating, dryer and water heater promotions featuring sponsored content, as well as print and digital advertising, which resulted in a high rate of customer engagement.

“Washington Gas is pleased to be awarded again by the highly reputable ENERGY STAR team, and we are proud that our energy efficiency initiatives consistently support our natural gas customers with solutions to lower energy use, save on costs and make businesses and homes more energy efficient,” said Blue Jenkins, President of Washington Gas. “We applaud the EPA and Department of Energy for being champions of efficient energy use, and we are committed to continue offering a broad range of effective natural gas energy efficiency programs that benefit our customers time and again.”

“I salute the 2020 ENERGY STAR award winners,” said Anne Idsal, EPA Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator for Air and Radiation. “These leaders demonstrate how energy efficiency drives economic competitiveness in tandem with environmental protection.”
