New piping program provides savings for Virginia builders and developers
Location: Germantown, MD
Located in Germantown, Holy Cross Hospital serves as one of the largest hospitals in Maryland. The not-for-profit teaching hospital cares for almost 200,000 patients each year through a range of inpatient and outpatient services.
With a remote location and complex terrain, the project needed a 900-foot main extension and over 1,900 feet of additional service pipeline to bring gas to the campus. With no practical way to reduce the gas piping infrastructure required, we worked with multiple project developers, utility consultants, engineers and subcontractors to create a viable solution.
The Washington Gas Systems Planning and Engineered Sales departments collaborated successfully with outside professionals from Richter & Associates, CRBE (formerly KLMK Group), Syska Hennessy Group and the hospital development group, to deliver natural gas heating, water heating and cooking gas to the hospital campus. Working together, everyone involved made the project a success in a timely fashion with minimal project concerns.
Holy Cross Hospital now has safe, reliable energy to support its mission of providing life-saving healthcare to those who need it most.
"The new natural gas service provided by Washington Gas allows Holy Cross Hospital to better serve our community with a new state-of-the-art central utility plant and all-private patient rooms. Holy Cross Hospital is very happy to be a Washington Gas customer for years to come."
