Washington Gas held its annual Trade Relations Charity Golf Outing.
Washington Gas was thrilled to join Mayor Muriel Bowser on March 12 to officially open the DC Infrastructure Academy (DCIA) in Ward 8.
"As we open the doors to this facility, we will be opening doors to a brighter future for so many DC residents," said Washington Gas COO Adrian Chapman in his remarks during the ceremony. "The training that will occur here will prepare citizens for good paying careers that will help hundreds of families."
Mayor Muriel Bowser created the DCIA - along with Washington Gas and other utility, union, university, and private sector partners - as a specialized workforce development initiative of the DC Department of General Services. The program seeks to bring more infrastructure industry opportunities for DC residents by providing hands-on experience and training.
DCIA also sponsored a career day following the opening that attracted at least 100 area residents, who met with representatives from Washington Gas and four PROJECTpipes contractors to discuss career opportunities.
