Employees Help Light the Night

Hearts were filled with warmth and the chilly evening lit with thousands of white, yellow and red paper lanterns during the National Capital Area’s Light The Night Walk on Oct. 17. Thousands of local volunteers, including 80 company volunteers, convened at Freedom Plaza on Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W. in Washington, D.C. to show support for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

Washington Gas received recognition during the walk for being this year’s top corporate fundraiser for the event. Company employees held creative and signature fundraisers during this year’s Light The Night campaign that netted $153,245 for cancer research.

In addition, the company contributed $15,000 for a total of $168,245. The company recently became the first corporate team in this area to reach the $1 million mark in support of LLS.
