Washington Gas is pursuing innovative pathways to reduce transportation emissions.
In December of 2015, Washington Gas experienced a technical issue with its billing program and did not apply the appropriate System Charges to the bills of approximately 6% of its Maryland customers for bills issued during the month of December 2015. Affected customers did not receive the correct Systems Charge for that month.
The System Charge covers some costs of providing natural gas service, including depreciation, taxes, maintenance and repair of customer lines, and customer-related expenses, such as meter reading and billing.
In order to bring customer accounts up to date and correct the variance, Washington Gas has applied the appropriate System Charge to the March gas bill for its affected Maryland customers, as a separate line item. The amount of the System Charge, per the Maryland Tariff, will range from $2.38-$47.10, depending upon the amount of natural gas used by customers during December 2015.
Customers may set up payment arrangements for the additional charge by contacting Washington Gas at 844-WASHGAS. Our customer service representatives are prepared to provide customers with assistance.
