Maryland Utility Moratorium on Service Disconnections Expires Nov 15




Dear Valued Customer:


Throughout the COVID-19 crisis Washington Gas has worked to ensure that customers remained connected to our services regardless of their ability to pay, including offering a variety of payment options and programs.


The Maryland Public Service Commission has authorized utilities to resume sending termination notices to customers. Our goal is to work with customers to avoid any termination or disruption of service. To meet this goal, we are urging all customers who have balances on their account to contact us to make payment arrangements or access energy assistance program.


  Your actions now can help you avoid accruing larger bills and late fees, thereby increasing your ability to manage your bill and avoid termination of service.


LATE FEES ASSESSED – Customers will begin to see late fees included on their bills and/or receive collection calls and notices related to amounts that are past due.

We recognize the added stress this situation could cause for our customers. If you think your service will disconnected or that you will be unable to make a payment, we are here to help. Through our Washington Gas Cares program, we will work with customers to help them manage their bills and access available energy assistance programs.



We offer short and long-term payment arrangement options for customers in need. We are prepared to work directly with our Maryland customers who require assistance by offering up to a 12-month deferred payment arrangement and, in some cases, even longer with no down payment or deposit required.
