Washington Gas Revitalizes Customer Experience With New Service Center

Washington, D.C. – As the leading provider of safe, natural gas service to more than 1.2 million customers in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia, Washington Gas is revitalizing their customer service model, which includes the opening of a new service center and reopening of the beloved Anacostia Walk-In Center. This marks a pivotal moment in the journey of transformation and customer experience. Media are invited to tour the new Customer Innovation Center on Thursday, July 28 at the National Press Club at 11:30 a.m.

Washington Gas’ long tradition of service to Washington-area residents began in the 1840s, when our founders imagined a future when Washington would have its streets, homes, and businesses lit and heated by gas that we would deliver. We were chartered by Congress — our first customer — in 1848 and brought light to the U.S. Capitol for the first time. We have grown with this community ever since and care deeply about the 1.2 million customers we serve today.

“We are proud of our long history of serving the people of this region, and we intend to be there for our customers. We will continue to work every day to earn their trust and confidence,” said Michelle Musgrove, Vice President of Customer Experience at Washington Gas. “Having a presence in the heart of the District makes sense for our company, our employees and our customers who live and work nearby.”

The new Customer Innovation Center is in the heart of Washington, D.C., near Franklin Plaza and Penn Quarter, on the first floor at the National Press Club Building. This new locale will allow customers to speak with customer service representatives in person, learn about the various programs they may be qualified for, and view demonstrations of new products and enhanced technology. We are focused on offering our customers affordable energy thus the building of the Customer Innovation Center was not funded with ratepayer dollars.

“Our customers are at the center of everything we do. When you walk into this Center, we want you to instantly feel a shift in the Washington Gas experience,” said DeShaundra Jones, Senior Director of Customer Experience and Community Engagement at Washington Gas. “We are now more equipped than ever to deliver the level of service our customers expect and deserve with the collaborative efforts between the Customer Innovation Center and our Anacostia Walk-In Center.”

The Customer Innovation Center is now open to the public. Regular hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Media are invited to attend the Customer Innovation Center Opening Celebration, which will take place on the 13th floor of the National Press Club, 529 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20045on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 11:30 a.m.

All guests will need to wear a mask, show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination, and bring a valid ID to enter.
