Washington Gas has partnered with Prince George’s Financial Services Corporation First (FSC First) to empower diverse-owned businesses in Maryland’s natural gas industry through the Strive for 35 loan program.
The Strive for 35 Program provides capital access for Maryland's diverse-owned businesses seeking to engage in the natural gas industry. The program offers loan of up to 7% with a maximum of $100,000 to diverse owned businesses over a five-year period. These funds can be utilized by businesses to acquire necessary equipment, expand operations and staffing, and enhance their industry presence.
Washington Gas has historically maintained a Supplier Diversity Program to enhance supplier relationships, build growth, and develop minority businesses. Our commitment includes diverse spending as part of our annual Corporate Scorecard goal to ensure executive and management accountability.
Furthermore, as a component of the Alta Gas Merger Commitment, Washington Gas is expanding its support of diverse suppliers. By 2028, Washington Gas will boost its spending with diverse suppliers to 35%.
“We are committed to fostering diversity and inclusion within the natural gas sector,” said Delan Johnson, Senior Manager of Supplier Diversity. “This program provides financial support and represents our dedication to cultivating inclusive, robust business environments.”
Washington Gas and FSC First champion growth and opportunity for diverse-owned businesses while driving innovation and prosperity within Maryland's natural gas industry.
