Washington Gas participates in the EmPOWER Maryland Program to help businesses reduce energy consumption with rebates on high-efficiency natural gas equipment. The commercial programs are supported by participating service providers and span a variety of industries including industrial facilities, nonprofit organizations, small and large businesses, restaurants, hotels, retail and medical facilities.
“The Washington Gas program is a game changer for our clients, enabling them to utilize incentive funding to make a real impact on efficiency, operation costs and the environment. Washington Gas is the only gas utility providing incentives from the Empower Maryland Program, which makes their impact even greater,” said Chet Knaup, General Manager at Spectrum Energy, LLC.
The hard work of participating service providers helped Washington Gas save more than 190,000 therms with more than 45 commercial projects completed in 2020. This equates to saving more than 1,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions or taking 217 vehicles off the road for a year. Washington Gas provided more than $300,000 in commercial incentives for energy efficient upgrades.
“Participating in the Maryland Energy Savings Program has been a great opportunity for us and our building owners alike. By incentivizing these higher standards of design, the program has helped us meet our building owner’s needs and maintain our team’s commitment to designing high performance buildings. We look forward to continuing our work with the program,” said Matthew J. Kunkel, Director of Marketing at Alban Engineering, Inc.
Washington Gas looks forward to partnering with all our registered service providers again in 2021 to help our business customers save energy and money. Learn more about the Washington Gas commercial rebate program here.
