Washington Gas can help you manage your energy with multiple options such as the Installment Plan, the Budget Plan and the Automated Payment Plan. To determine which plan you may be eligible for and how to apply, explore the payment plan options below.
If you are having trouble paying your gas bill, you may be eligible for the Installment Plan. On the Installment Plan, we will set you up with monthly payments that spread your current outstanding balance across several billing periods to help you get caught up.
The Installment Plan is available for up to 12-months, or 24-months for customers receiving energy assistance. Installment plans are interest free and a down payment may be required. Avoid further credit action on your account as long as you make payments according to the agreement. Once your Installment Plan is approved, you will be eligible to enroll in Budget Plan.
How To Enroll
You can enroll in several ways:
- Apply online with an easy one-click at: https://washingtongas.com/payment-plan.
- Log in to your Washington Gas online account to enroll in Installment Plan.
Please contact a customer advocate if arrangements beyond 12 months are needed by calling 844-WASHGAS (844-927-4427) and choose self-service option no. 2.
Washington Gas will comply with all applicable laws, tariff regulations or other arrangements entered into with regulators when extending Installment Plans to customers who are willing to pay outstanding amounts.
The Budget Plan can help you manage your bill by spreading winter heating costs over the entire year so that you pay the same amount every month. We calculate your average monthly payment based on historical natural gas usage and then adjust for normal weather and projected gas costs. Your account will be periodically reviewed to confirm that the monthly estimate is on target. Each monthly bill will show your actual gas usage and bill amounts, along with budget installments. Depending on the time of year, your budget installment amount may be different from your actual monthly usage.
If actual gas costs, weather and/or usage differ significantly from our original estimate, we may adjust your monthly payment to prevent significant charges or credits at the end of your budget year. You may also request an adjustment to your monthly budget payment. If this is necessary, you will be notified and can decide whether to change your monthly budget payment amount.
Your 12th monthly bill will reflect the last installment of your budget cycle, adjusted for the difference between actual and budgeted gas usage. Overpayments are credited to your account unless a refund is requested. If you use more gas than you paid for, the difference will be rolled into your next budget cycle and included in the budget plan amount calculation.
Budget Plan is designed as a 12-month program, and we encourage you to participate year-round to realize the full potential benefits. Please note that continued participation in the plan depends on your ability to make the monthly budget payment. A late payment or failure to pay may result in removal from the plan, and the full amount of the account balance will become due. We recommend you enroll in Automated Payment Plan to ensure your payments are made on time.
