Washington Gas strives to meet your needs when scheduling service appointments. Appointment windows are determined by available field service resources. Depending on the service required and your availability, Washington Gas offers morning, afternoon and all-day appointments, with a limited number of shorter appointment windows also available.
Service Appointment Notification Program
Washington Gas’ automatic notification program provides customers with an automated reminder call before their scheduled appointment. The automated call gives customers the option of confirming, rescheduling or cancelling their service appointment. Customers should provide a primary and secondary phone number when scheduling service appointments to ensure they receive the reminder call.
Automatic Name Change Program (Business/Commercial Customers Only)
Through the Automatic Name Change Program (ANCP), Washington Gas and property managers and /or landlords establish a written agreement for transfer of a tenant’s gas service to the landlord when a tenant informs Washington Gas that he or she is moving. Forty-eight hours before a new tenant is scheduled to occupy the unit, the tenant must verify their occupancy on our Customer Portal website to transfer the account to his/her name, with no disruption in gas service.
This program streamlines the leasing process and saves time and money for management companies and agents. There are no service initiation fees for the management company; no phone calls to schedule reconnection, no time spent providing access to the unit and no disruption in natural gas service.
How ANCP Works:
- Step 1: Download and fill out the ANCP enrollment contract.
- Step 2: Email the completed form to ANCP@washgas.com. Washington Gas will confirm receipt of the contract via email and provide a confirmation number within 7-14 business days.
When the unit is leased and a resident/tenant completes a move-in order — either online or through our contact center — the account will be removed from the management company/owner’s name, Washington Gas will transfer service and billing will begin in the new customer’s name.
If the gas service is turned off for non-payment prior to the account closing, the ANCP will not be effective. Please check your property for active gas service to ensure the ANCP is effective.
