Simply complete the Gift of Warmth form to make a one-time payment (in any amount) to a specific customer’s account. Once complete, Washington Gas will mail a Gift of Warmth acknowledgment certificate to the recipient.

What is the Gift of Warmth Program?
With the current pandemic, it has been increasingly more difficult for families, friends, and neighbors to cover monthly utility bills. This program was created to provide our community with a means to assist each other to get through these difficult times. The “Gift of Warmth” would allow any individual to make a one-time utility payment on a specific customer’s account. The payment will as a future bill credit on the designated customer’s account.

Is this an energy assistance program, and can I apply for help?
This is not an energy assistance program.

Can a Gift of Warmth be made in a Washington Gas Walk-In Office?
Not this time, due to COVID 19, but once our offices have safely re-opened, Gift of Warmth submission made be accepted.

How do I submit a Gift of Warmth payment?
You can obtain online a pledge form that can be downloaded and mailed, along with a check or money order in the amount that you wish to: Washington Gas, 6801 Industrial Road, Springfield VA, 22151 Attention: Gift of Warmth.
If you know the name and service address, a representative will be able to assist you with making a payment to the account of your choice by check. Please note: due to strict privacy rules, customer account information cannot be provided by a representative.

Will Washington Gas provide the account information for the account that I chose to assist?
The GOW donor will need to provide the customer’s name and address to make the payment. No information related to the customer’s account could be shared with the individual – privacy of customer data is critical.

Can I make an anonymous payment?
Yes, Gift of Warmth payments may be made anonymously.

If I do not have a particular individual’s information, can I still make a pledge?
Absolutely! You can donate to Washington Gas’ signature philanthropic program; the Washington Area Fuel Fund (WAFF). WAFF is a 501c-3 program (i.e. your donation is tax-deductible) that is run in collaboration with The Salvation Army. For more information go to www.WAFFhelp.org.
