Per Department of Transportation (DOT) Part 192 Subpart P regulations, every distribution operator was required to have a Distribution Integrity Management Program (DIMP) plan in place by August 2, 2011. The seven key elements of a DIMP plan are:
- Knowledge of distribution system
- Identify threats
- Evaluate and rank risk
- Identify and implement measures to reduce risk
- Measure performance, monitor results, and evaluate effectiveness
- Periodic evaluation and improvement
- Report results
The DIMP team at Washington Gas is responsible for the following activities:
- Manages the company’s DIMP plan and continually strives towards mitigating risk for the distribution system and enhancing pipeline safety
- Concentrates on data integrity (accuracy and completeness) and data management
- Performs analysis to recommend/support annual capital replacement projects for risk mitigation
- Prepares reports to support accelerated actions
- Evaluates effectiveness through performance measures
