And, automatic thermostats and timers enable you to manage usage as you need it, maintaining a constant temperature or only igniting as needed. Heater Size:
Don't choose a smaller heater based on initial costs alone. A larger heater may be more economical as it doesn't have to work as long or hard to heat the same size pool or spa as a small heater does.
Tell your dealer the pool size and the water temperature desired during the coolest month you plan to use it.
For a spa heater, water capacity in gallons and preferred heat-up time are the deciding factors.
Ignition and Burners:
Choose a standard electronic ignition system that activates the pilot light only when necessary or a millivolt ignition for safety and matchless ignition.
Consider a heater with stainless steel burners for greater reliability and longer life.
Maintenance and Conservation:
Pool and spa heaters are built to be low maintenance, but it's always a good idea to protect your heater from the elements as much as possible.
To help keep pool and spa heating costs lower, shop for a natural gas heater that is as close to 100 percent efficient as possible.
