Washington Gas Partners with Food Banks to Provide Nearly 300,000 Meals Across the DMV

WASHINGTON, Nov 21, 2025 – Washington Gas is proud to announce partnerships with four leading nonprofit organizations — Capital Area Food Bank, Manna Food Center, Project GiveBack, and East River Family Strengthening Collaborative — to combat rising food insecurity in the DMV. Donations to these organizations will fund nearly 300,000 meals for families in need.

“We are proud to extend a helping hand to our neighbors across the DMV during this time of heightened need,” said Blue Jenkins, president of Washington Gas. “These donations reflect our ongoing commitment to being here for the DMV — today and every day.”

As food insecurity continues to affect families throughout the region, Washington Gas is investing time, talent, and resources into trusted community partners with deep local reach and proven distribution networks.

In addition to today’s donation announcement, Washington Gas employees joined Project GiveBack’s 31st Annual Thanksgiving Food Distribution event where volunteers assembled food baskets for 5,500 families in the DMV.

These partnerships reinforce Washington Gas’s commitment to supporting customers and communities through its energy assistance programs, flexible payment options, and broader community investment efforts:

  • Washington Gas Cares offers a range of assistance options, including deferred payment arrangements and installment plans. Customers in need of support can visit WashingtonGasCares.com or call 1-844-WASHGAS to speak with a representative about available services.
  • The Washington Area Fuel Fund (WAFF) has been helping families in D.C., Maryland and Virginia stay warm during the winter since 1983. Through financial assistance, WAFF has provided nearly $35 million in aid, supporting more than 320,000 households across the region. The application process for 2026 programs will open in January.
