Robert R. Rooney

Robert R. Rooney joined the Board of Directors of Washington Gas on July 1, 2026. Mr. Rooney has over 40 years of energy sector experience, including experience in strategic planning, leadership, mergers and acquisitions, enterprise risk management, corporate governance, and stakeholder relations, acquired through senior leadership roles across public and private entities. Mr. Rooney was the Executive Vice-President and Chief Legal Officer of Enbridge Inc. from 2017 to 2023, where he was responsible for the legal, ethics and compliance, security and aviation teams. Prior to joining Enbridge, Mr. Rooney was Managing Director of Rimrock Oil and Gas, Executive Vice President, Corporate of Talisman Energy Inc., and Vice-Chairman and Director of Repsol Oil & Gas Canada Inc. Additionally, Mr. Rooney was a partner at Bennett Jones LLP, where he was a member of the executive committee and co-leader of the Energy and Natural Resources Group.

Mr. Rooney serves on the boards of Canada's Sports Hall of Fame, the Calgary Stampede Foundation and Chatter Creek Mountain Lodges. He has also served on numerous public and private company boards of directors.

Mr. Rooney has a Doctor of Law from Western University and was appointed King's Counsel in 2012, a designation recognizing excellence and leadership in the legal profession. He is also a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors.
