Congratulations, Eco Challenge Winners!

Washington Gas is proud to be an ongoing sponsor of the WUSA9 Environment Matters - Eco Challenge for middle school students to participate in challenges that showcase their skills and environmental projects. Each winning school receives a $5,000 check to help make their eco-friendly projects a reality.

Without further ado, here are the 2024 winning teams. Congratulations to these hard-working young students who are shaping the future!

Plum Point Middle School, Calvert County

Project: Gator Garden: A hands-on living classroom for students


Matthew Henson Middle School, Charles County

Project: Planter boxes to increase bee population and grow food for the community


Accokeek Academy, Prince George's County

Project: Expanding existing living classroom/garden space 


Oyster-Adams Bilingual School, D.C.

Project: Training students on how to compost to use waste products in their own school garden
