Washington Gas Celebrates Natural Gas Utility Workers’ Day: Service Technician Victor Kelly Highlight
For Natural Gas Utility Workers’ Day, Washington Gas recognizes the dedicated employees who work every day to ensure that homes and businesses across the DMV have access to affordable, reliable, and safe natural gas.
One of those individuals is Service Technician Victor Kelly, whose 25-year career with Washington Gas reflects the commitment and care that defines the natural gas utility workforce.
Victor is a D.C. native and proud son of immigrant parents from the Dominican Republic. Service to others has always been a core pillar of Victor’s life. Before joining Washington Gas, Victor served the D.C. community as a police officer for 12 years. Today, he continues that spirit of service by helping ensure customers have access to the natural gas service and heating they rely on.
According to Victor, the most rewarding part of his job is helping people when they need it most. Whether restoring service or assisting customers during challenging moments, he sees every call as an opportunity to make a difference.
Now living in Maryland, Victor says the path he chose has given him the chance to build a stable and meaningful future.
“Working at Washington Gas has given me the opportunity to serve my community in a different way,” Victor said. “When you help someone get their heat back on or make sure their service is safe, you know you’re doing something that truly matters. It’s a career I’m proud of, and I always tell young people that the trades are a great path, especially at Washington Gas, where you can grow and build a lasting career.”
Today, and every day, we celebrate Victor and employees like him who bring our commitment to being here for the DMV to life through their dedication and service.
