Washington Gas and The Cool Hardware Company Partner to Bring Energy Savings to DMV Neighborhoods

New partnership puts affordable, DIY energy-efficiency products on shelves at five local hardware stores across the DMV

WASHINGTON, D.C. — June 3, 2026 — Washington Gas today announced a community partnership with The Cool Hardware Company (CHC) to help DMV residents lower their energy bills through simple, low-cost home improvements, no contractor required.

Through the partnership, Washington Gas has created dedicated energy-saving endcap displays at five CHC-affiliated neighborhood hardware stores: Logan Hardware (Logan Circle), Frager's Hardware (Capitol Hill), Old Town Ace Hardware (Alexandria), Old Takoma Ace (Takoma Park), and Silver Spring Ace Hardware (Silver Spring).

Each display stocks practical, under-$25 DIY products: weatherstripping, window insulation film, door sweeps, spray foam sealant, pipe insulation, and smart thermostat accessories — all that renters and homeowners can buy and install the same day.

Customers can also access step-by-step installation tips and how-to videos via QR codes placed throughout each energy-saving display.

As part of the launch, customers who spend $40 or more at a participating store will receive a limited-edition storefront tote bag, custom-designed for each CHC location, while supplies last.
