Washington Gas Awards More Than $622,700 to 57 Nonprofits Through Second Community Investment Grant Cycle
Grant funding supports local organizations addressing the most pressing needs across DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
Today, Washington Gas announced over $622,700 in Community Investment grants to 57 nonprofit organizations serving communities across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. This second round of grants builds on the company’s inaugural grant cycle earlier this year, which had awarded $545,000 to 46 nonprofit organizations.
The most recent round of grants (full list of recipients below) supports nonprofits addressing critical community needs through programs focused on Access & Opportunity, Safe Communities, Environmental Stewardship, and Community Connections. This round includes a particular emphasis on Prince George’s County, with investments addressing food insecurity, education, workforce development, and other community needs.
These grants are part of Washington Gas’ commitment to invest at least $1.2 million annually in the communities it serves. For more than 178 years, Washington Gas has worked hand in hand with a wide range of community partners to strengthen the DMV region.
“At Washington Gas, we’re committed to the strength and well-being of the communities we serve, going beyond our role as an energy provider,” said Michelle Musgrove, VP of Customer Growth at Washington Gas. “Now and throughout the year, we’re proud to support these organizations that contribute to long-term community resilience.”
One of the grants in this cycle was awarded to A Wider Circle, an organization committed to advancing equity in the greater DC region by fostering the exchange of goods, skills, and connections from neighbor to neighbor.
“Washington Gas has been a valued partner in A Wider Circle’s mission, showing up in meaningful ways through its support of our signature events, employee volunteer engagement, and investments in microgrants for our Ward 8 Hub,” said Amy Javaid, President & CEO of A Wider Circle. “This growing partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening communities and ensuring our neighbors have the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. We’re grateful for Washington Gas’s continued investment in this work and the people at the heart of it.”
