Washington Gas Earns 2022 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 5, 2022) – Washington Gas is proud to announce that it has again been recognized by ENERGY STAR for its commitment to energy efficiency. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) have selected the company as the winner of the 2022 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award for Energy Efficiency Program Delivery.

Washington Gas has been an ENERGY STAR partner since 2015 and received the Excellence in Promotion award in 2018 and 2020.  Today’s honor recognizes the company for the third time, highlighting exemplary commitment and consistent leadership.  Successfully leveraging ENERGY STAR to help Maryland customers save nearly 1 million therms (a measure of heat energy) in 2021 was a significant factor in this award achievement.

“We are honored to earn such high praise from the powerful ENERGY STAR industry brand. Our initiatives offer our natural gas customers practical, innovative solutions to lower energy use and reduce costs for businesses and homes,” said Blue Jenkins, President of Washington Gas. “We thank the EPA and DOE for promoting energy use that protects the environment and potentially reduces customer energy spending, and we will continue offering efficiency program options to meet our customers’ diverse needs.”

“We know it’s going to take all of us working together to tackle the climate crisis, and the 2022 ENERGY STAR award-winning partners are demonstrating what it takes to build a more sustainable future,” said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan. “These companies are showing once again that taking action in support of a clean energy economy can be good not only for the environment, but also for business and customers.”

The ENERGY STAR program honors businesses and organizations that have made outstanding contributions in protecting the environment through superior energy achievements. Award winners lead their industries in the production, sale, and adoption of energy-efficient products, homes, buildings, services, and strategies that are essential in addressing the climate crisis and protecting public health.

Winners are selected from a network of thousands of ENERGY STAR partners. For a complete list of 2022 winners and more information about the awards program, visit energystar.gov/awardwinners. To find out more about Washington Gas energy efficiency programs, visit www.washingtongasrebates.com
